Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: How Adoray Supports Patients, Families, and Our Community
June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a time to build understanding, compassion, and support for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
At Adoray Home Health & Hospice, we see firsthand how dementia impacts individuals and families. Nearly one in four of our hospice patients lives with some form of cognitive change. Through our Guiding Light Dementia Care Program, we are committed to providing compassionate, individualized care while supporting caregivers and strengthening our community.
For patients facing advanced dementia, hospice care focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Our interdisciplinary team works together to manage symptoms, reduce distress, and meet each patient’s unique emotional, spiritual, and physical needs. We understand that dementia care is more than memory care, it’s brain care, helping us better respond to behaviors, reduce anxiety, and create more meaningful connections.
At the core of our program are our Dementia Care Champions, trained in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care®. This specialized training equips our staff and volunteers with practical, evidence-based skills to improve communication, build trust, and create more positive care experiences.
We also offer a variety of engagement tools, such as robotic companion pets, sensory items, music, and personalized activities, to bring comfort, purpose, and joy to each day.
Supporting caregivers is equally important. Adoray provides education, emotional support, respite resources, and a free Dementia Care Resource Guide to help families navigate every stage of the journey.
Beyond patient care, we are committed to community education. Through our Annual Dementia Caregivers Conference and immersive Dementia Live® training, we help caregivers, professionals, and community members better understand the dementia experience and provide more compassionate support.
At Adoray, we believe no one should face dementia alone. Through our Guiding Light Dementia Care Program, we are helping create a community where individuals living with dementia are understood, supported, and embraced.
