Nancy's Dream

Date: Dec, 21 2023

A dream came true for Nancy Van Someren, a resident of Baldwin Care Center, when she met the elementary students who have been her pen pals for two years. Nancy, who is affectionately called "Fancy Nancy" by the kids, has been receiving cards, letters, and art projects from a classroom at Rutherford Elementary School in Stillwater.

With the help of Adoray's Dream Big program and Social Worker Jeanette, Nancy was able to visit the school on Tuesday, December 5, and enjoy a special 30-minute program that the students prepared for her. Nancy's sister Linda also flew in from Oregon to accompany her on the trip and be a part of the special program.

This pen pal project was arranged by Social Worker Kathryn at Baldwin Care Center and her sister who is the teacher at Rutherford Elementary School. Midwest Ridesource helped provide transportation for Nancy to and from the school. The cost for the transportation was covered thanks to Adoray’s Dream Big program. Nancy was delighted to see the faces of the children who have been supporting her with their kindness and creativity. It was truly a beautiful time for everyone involved.

Adoray’s Dream Big program gives gifts of hope that inspire good memories and enhance the emotional, social, and spiritual health of our patients and their loved ones. Committed to honoring our most cherished generation in their final days, we help make dreams come true through incredible experiences that our patients and their families will never forget.

Adoray’s Dream Big program is made possible thanks to the support of the Fred C. & Katherine B. Andersen Foundation, the Hands For Hospice Fund of the Community Foundation of Dunn County, and ongoing fundraising by Adoray. For more information, visit adoray.org or call 715-629-1888.
