No one enters the world by themselves,
and we do not believe anyone should have to leave it alone, either.
That is why Adoray offers an 11th Hour Companion program made up of staff and
volunteers who have received extensive, specialized training on how to companion the dying.
Our 11th Hour Companions provide compassionate presence and comfort to patients who are imminently dying and prefer not to be left alone. They also offer welcome relief for caregivers who are sitting vigil with their loved ones and need a short break.
• Provide Knowledgeable Presence:
Encourage and educate normalcy of the process
• Offer Caregiver Relief:
Provide a presence for the caregiver to take a break and attend to personal needs
• Quiet or Supportive Presence:
Share music, Compassionate Touch, readings, and other comfort measures
• Companioning Presence:
Support someone who does not want to sit vigil alone
