Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart Celebrates National Thrift Shop Day – Honoring Community, Creativity, and Compassion

This Sunday is National Thrift Shop Day, and at Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart, we’re celebrating with more than just amazing deals. We’re celebrating a mission, a movement, and the people who make it all possible.

The festivities begin early with our National Thrift Shop Day Eve Sale this Saturday, August 16th, when all four Treasures from the Heart stores will offer 50% off storewide. Then, on Sunday, August 17th, our River Falls location will keep the joy going with its very own National Thrift Shop Day event.

National Thrift Shop Day is more than a shopping holiday for us. It is a time to shine a light on the incredible Treasures staff whose hard work, creativity, and care make each store so much more than a place to shop. They create spaces of connection, kindness, and belonging, where neighbors greet each other by name, volunteers find purpose, and donations are transformed into comfort and care for those who need it most.

In 1998, when changes to federal funding threatened the future of home health care, our leaders made a bold, forward-thinking decision to open a thrift store in Baldwin. This was not just a way to raise funds. It was a sustainable, community-driven solution that would keep home health care accessible for all, regardless of ability to pay. That single store has grown into four thriving locations, with a brand-new addition this year, ensuring that Adoray can continue providing comfort, dignity, and compassion for decades to come.

Today, Treasures from the Heart stands as a shining example of how a nonprofit can serve both people and the planet. Every donation of gently used clothing, furniture, or household goods helps reduce waste, recycle resources, and protect our environment, while every purchase directly supports Adoray’s Home Health program.
