Adoray Hospice House

Thank you for considering joining Adoray Home Health & Hospice in our $5 million capital campaign to bring the first hospice house to the St. Croix Valley. Adoray’s Hospice House will offer an important option for patients whose life circumstances do not allow them to remain at home during their last days, weeks or months of life; a place where the patient can live each day to the fullest and enjoy precious time with their family and friends surround by expert compassionate care. Given the aging population within our region and the growing need for palliative and hospice services, now is the time to bring a home-like residence dedicated wholly and uniquely to the end-of-life experience to our community.

Over the past 22 years, not-for-profit Adoray Home Health & Hospice has cared for more than 12,000 patients and impacted the lives of countless families in communities throughout the St. Croix Valley. Our guiding vision is to enhance the quality of life of patients facing serious health challenges by providing expert physical, emotional and spiritual care. For individuals facing end of life, and for those who love them, these moments can be some of the most precious and memorable experiences to share. Often these moments become opportunities for tender reflection or a celebration of a life well lived. Others find support during the difficult conversations that often take place within families as they find hope through acceptance and reconciliation.

Whatever the circumstance, Adoray Hospice is there to advance these opportunities and to encourage positive, meaningful outcomes for everyone under our care.

Investing in the Future

A 3-acre site within close proximity to Hudson with easy access to I-94 has been donated by a community member. On this site we will build an 8-bed hospice house that will provide a peaceful home-like environment, staffed with compassionate professionals to support patients and families through the end-of-life process. In addition, we plan to raise funds through a capital campaign to build the hospice house and start an endowment fund to support patient scholarships.

About Our Need

Our community is aging. In 2006, the oldest Baby Boomers turned 60. By 2030, one in five Americans will be 65 or older. Over the past two years, Adoray hospice has experienced more than 50% growth in the number of hospice patients cared for and an additional 10% growth in days of care. Service area has expanded to a 6-county area of St. Croix Valley. West Central Wisconsin is the largest geographic area in the state without a hospice house.

The Vision for the Hospice House

Our goal is to build an 8-bed hospice house in the St. Croix Valley that will provide a cost-effective, non-institutional alternative for our community’s residents during their final days.

The new hospice house will feel like a home with focus on family:
• Cozy bedrooms with private bathrooms and space for family to stay overnight
• Kitchen and dining facilities to accommodate special family meals
• Space for family celebrations including a large gathering room with a fireplace
• Chapel and meditation spaces
• Children’s play areas (both indoor and outdoor)
• Patios, walking paths and meditation gardens
• Patient Day Spa
• Ample natural light and serene views
• Families welcome at all hours

The new hospice house will offer:
• Holistic care for patient and family
• Robust volunteer base
• A professional and compassionate staff expertly trained to manage pain and symptoms
• Emotional and spiritual support for the patient and their loved ones
• Grief support

The Costs Involved

The total cost for a hospice house that will serve the 6-county area is 5 MILLION DOLLARS. The campaign goal includes the cost to build and furnish the hospice house and to create an endowment fund to help provide patient scholarships for those needing financial assistance and for future maintenance and operational needs.

Construction Including Furnishings $3,250,000
Land Acquisition and Site Development $750,000
Endowment/Operating Reserve $1,000,000

Campaign funds will be held at the St. Croix Valley Foundation in Adoray’s Hospice House Fund.
